Our application process is completed in 5 simple steps!
On this page we’ve outlined everything you need to know about each step of our application process. If you have any queries during your application, please contact sixthform@northstowe.education or call 01223 343800.
Our full Admissions Policy is available to download at the bottom of this page.
Step 1: Open Evening
Explore our beautiful campus, check out our amazing facilities and have your questions answered by our friendly staff.
Our Open Evenings are designed for Year 11 students who are working through their post-16 education journey, but we welcome all to attend. Bring along your friends and family to experience everything Northstowe Sixth Form has to offer you.
Prospectuses and websites such as this one can help you in deciding whether a college is right for you, but nothing beats a visit. Come in to see us for yourself, either for our Open Evening in November, or by calling 01223 343800 and arranging a visit directly.
Step 2: Complete an Online Application
Our application deadline for September 2026 is Tuesday, 13th January 2026. Applications submitted after this date may be placed on a waiting list.
Northstowe Sixth Form welcomes applications from all students, regardless of the school you currently attend. All applications are considered equally, however, the application process differs based on the school you currently attend. All applications to the College should be made through MyChoice16. Please ensure you check which of the below applies to you before submitting your application.
We are a Sixth Form with high standards. Our standard entry requirements are 5 GCSE subjects at a minimum of a Grade 5 or equivalent including Maths and English. Individual course requirements are set out in the various subject statements which can be seen on this website. These specific entry requirements are set to help guide your choices and ensure you are on the appropriate courses to enable you to achieve your full potential.
Step 3: Guidance Meetings
Our Guidance Meetings are informal sessions taking place throughout the Spring and Summer terms. No offers are made at this stage! The purpose of your guidance meeting is to discuss your subject choices with you, find out more about you as an individual and to make sure they support any progression plans you may have. Parents and Carers are encouraged to attend your meeting with you. A written reference will be sought from your current school as to the suitability of the course and level being considered.
Step 4: Offer to Study
Following Guidance Meetings, offers will be emailed to applicants by the end of the Spring Term 2025.
If for any reason we are unable to make you an offer, you will be invited to reapply using our Post-results service which goes live on GCSE results day.
Accepting your offer to study does not confirm your enrolment as a Northstowe Sixth Form student. However, it does hold your place for you.
Please note: You can accept and hold offers from multiple post-16 providers before making your final decision on Results Day.
Step 5: Welcome Day
Upcoming Welcome Day: Friday 4th July 2025
If you accept your offer of study, you will be invited to our Welcome Day.
Our Welcome Days are designed to give you a first-hand experience of life as a Northstowe Sixth student. You will spend the day trying out the subjects you have applied to study with us. This also gives you the opportunity to meet your potential classmates and teachers.
Step 6: Results Day and Enrolment
Online Enrolment Commences
You will need to upload your results to our enrolment platform, and once they have been checked by the College you will be fully enrolled as a Northstowe Sixth Form student.
Post-Results Opens
If you are not holding an offer with the College and would like to apply for entry in 2025, you can make a post-results application once you have your actual grades. The College is able to offer post-results places where space becomes available in subjects after enrolment.
