About Us
Named after Sir David Attenborough, famous naturalist, well known for his work in promoting the natural world. Born in 1926, he studied Natural Sciences at Cambridge University. He is world famous for the magnificent programmes about the world, ecology and animal life. Recognised in 1985 for his services to television, having been the Director of Programmes for 7 years at the BBC, he became a Sir. He has also presented and narrated iconic programmes such as ‘Life on Earth’, ‘The Living Planet’, ‘The private life of Plants’ and ‘The Life of Mammals’, most recently recording his witness testament to raise awareness of the state of our planet and what we can all do to help.
He was chosen because he embodies our school values of Kindness, curiosity and hardwork, he also has some powerful messages for young people.
He says:
- Only you can define what success is
- It is important to be flexible and learn to go with the glow
- Embrace technology
- Be humble and acknowledge the input of others
- Meet others at where they are – get to their level
- Old does not mean obsolete
- Find the fun and joy in what you do
We think he is an inspiration in the way he has lived his life, shown a love of learning throughout his lifetime, and cared deeply about the world around him.
