Primary Curriculum Overview

At Northstowe Primary School, we are committed to providing a rich and well‑rounded curriculum that meets statutory requirements while responding to the individual needs of every child. Our curriculum is thoughtfully designed and delivered through a range of teaching approaches, ensuring learning is engaging, inclusive, and appropriate to each subject area. We recognise that children learn in different ways and develop at different stages, and our teaching reflects this to support all pupils in achieving their full potential.

We aim to:

• Ensure all children have the opportunity to develop the skills and knowledge needed to become active, curious, and lifelong learners.
• Provide a knowledge‑rich curriculum for all children.
• Offer a range of exciting, flexible, enjoyable, and engaging learning experiences, while fully meeting the requirements of the National Curriculum.
• Enable depth of coverage and effective sequencing to support clear progression in skills and knowledge.
• Ensure that all children make at least good progress.
• Actively seek and plan creative links between subjects to deepen understanding.
• Provide meaningful opportunities for writing for real and purposeful audiences across the curriculum.
