
Further Mathematics
If you excel at Mathematics and are interested in logical solutions to problems, Further Mathematics may be the right choice for you. This course works alongside the A Level Mathematics course, further deepening your understanding of complex mathematical theories and concepts. Studying A Level Further Mathematics is excellent preparation for a degree in Mathematics. Many university maths departments encourage students to take Further Mathematics at A Level as it introduces a wider range of pure and applied content, such as matrices and complex numbers.
Course Overview
Further Mathematics is an A Level qualification which both broadens and deepens the mathematics covered in A Level Mathematics. Further Mathematics is taken alongside A Level Mathematics. As well as new learning new areas of Pure Mathematics you will study further applications of mathematics in Mechanics, Statistics and Decision Mathematics.
Entrance Requirements
To study Further Maths at A Level, students must achieve a Grade 7 or above in GCSE Mathematics.*
*Students may be required to sit a strict entrance exam to ensure suitability for the course.
