Catering

School meals are provided by Caterlink and our dedicated team of cooks. These high-quality meals are freshly prepared in the school kitchen and offer varied, healthy options for children every day.

We offer a mixture of vegetarian and vegan alternatives, as well as a daily salad bar, ensuring there’s something for everyone.

If your child has a specific food allergy or intolerance, please inform the school office as soon as possible.

Students have the option of bringing in a packed lunch or purchasing food from the school canteen.

Packed Lunch

If you prefer your child to bring a packed lunch, please remember that we are a nut-free school. Packed lunches must not contain any form of nuts to ensure the safety of all children.

School Canteen

Our catering team works incredibly hard to offer a wide selection of hot and cold food at both break and lunchtime for our students. Menus change on a 3-weekly rotation, and we have included our menus below. The menu for the week is also shared in the newsletter each week.

We operate a cashless payment system at Northstowe Secondary College.  Families can top up their child’s account via MCAS, and can also see an itemised receipt of what their child is purchasing. 

There is a daily spend limit automatically applied to student accounts of £4.50 per day to help families budget through the week, however, if you would like this daily limit to be decreased or increased for your child please email finance@northstowe.education with your preferred daily maximum spend and they will be happy to arrange this for you. 

At lunchtime a Meal Deal offer is available giving students the opportunity to buy a hot meal and dessert for £2.80.

We would encourage students to bring a reusable water bottle with them to school to save money on drinks, which can easily eat into the daily allowance. We have several water coolers throughout the school where bottles can be topped up.

Those students eligible for Free School Meals will have an allowance of £2.80 per day automatically added to their account.  Families are welcome to top up the balance via MCAS if they wish to do so. Again, we would encourage students to think wisely about what they are purchasing. The Meal Deal on offer at lunchtime offers the best value and ensures they can have a hot main meal and dessert.

Our team are happy to accommodate any dietary needs, and are fully aware of those children in school with allergies. If your child develops any new allergies or dietary requirements other than those listed in your admissions form, please let us know by emailing office@northstowe.education so that we can ensure that this is passed on to the team.
