Year 12 Work Experience
Work Experience is an important part of the Year 12 Curriculum and is an excellent opportunity for young people to gain an insight into the ‘World of Work’ and to help prepare them for the responsibilities and opportunities of adult life. We believe that it improves understanding of how business and industry operate, improves self-confidence, self-reliance, and maturity, and also helps students develop skills which they will need throughout their life. We know it can be one of the most transformational experiences young people have during their education.
All Year 12 students will be expected to take part in our Work Experience programme between Monday 7th to Friday 18th July 2025.
In order for students to gain the valuable job-hunting skills which are so important in today’s job market, we ask that all students take responsibility for planning and finding their own placements. However, if students or families are particularly concerned about this process, please get in touch with us via Careers@northstowe.education.
We will be using Unifrog (www.unifrog.org) to manage the administration of the work experience programme – for example collecting information from the employer about their Risk Assessment and Health & Safety policy, as well as getting agreement from families for the placement to go ahead. Students should start researching companies and asking family and friends if they know any employers that could take them on for the week. Students should make contact with lots of companies, and then agree a placement with one. There is further information and a useful email example within the PowerPoint that we have attached. It’s important that students make note of the employer’s contact details (Name, Email, Business Address).
